Would you rather enjoy a boss that likes you, or would you rather have the respect of your coworkers and the community in which you work?

I would MUCH rather have the respect of coworkers and the community! One person versus possibly thousands? A boss that likes you would be nice, but if the boss is a douche, then would you really care if he liked you or not? ;-)

Definitely the respect and support of the coworkers and community. The boss can make things tough, but being his pet wouldn't make your work or life easier if you DIDN'T have the support of everyone else.

My bosses have never liked me much. But I've always had the respect of the community, which is far more fulfilling. Of course, I'm a public servant, in a way, so I've always felt that serving the community was paramount to serving my boss. I hope he's not reading this!

hqMost of my jobs have been work, but my community service work is my life's work, and I find it far more satisfying.
