Get out and vote

Most of us were born American. We were raised to believe in what it means to be an American. We take our hats off during the National Anthem, we sing, our hearts swell with the knowledge that we are part of the greatest nation in the world, a nation built on this statement, the preamble of the U.S. Constitution:
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Those rights are not guaranteed.
You need to vote to make your voice heard.
Get out and vote. It's that important. Especially this political season, where we have the power to change everything. The most important presidential election in a generation.
Vote.
Now.

Gotta tell ya - a few weeks ago I had one of those defining moments. A moment that defined me as a true patriot, a real American. Seriously. More of a Patriot, more of an Amerkun than I've I've ever felt, in my entire life.
I met this guy while I was having coffee. I asked him what he did. He had a manufacturing company. Pointed out some garlic knives in the produce section that his company makes.
He asked what I did. I told him I ran the local office of the public radio station.
"Oh, so you're one of those liberal media elite socialist leftists."
Whatever.
I said, "Well, I guess I know what side of the fence YOU sit on then. But I think I'm a bit harder to nail down than that."
So he then went on to tell me how Barack Obama is evil because he wants to tax this guy more, and that's bad because this guy has to heat his 5000 square foot house, and his wife needs to put gas in her brand new Mercedes, and he's got his brand new BMW, and then there's his wife's botox treatments (which he didn't mention...but she walked up to the table, and well, it was obvious). So finally to get an idea of how big this guy's manufacturing company is, and what kind of impact Obama's tax plans might have on this poor guy, I ask him how many employees he has working for him locally.
"Locally? Well....nobody. I outsource everything to China."
After that we had a conversation about how in the world he could possibly oversee with any accuracy the guy whom he pays to assure him that his money isn't going to hire 6 year olds to make the garlic knives that adorn one wall in the produce section in Holiday Market.
Like I said... I never felt more patriotic in my entire life than when I was inspired to get myself to the polls the very next day to vote for the guy who might tax this guy who obviously puts more than $250K a year into his pocket by hiring people in another country to make his stuff because it puts more money in his pocket, and none into the pockets of any other person in this country.
